Welcome to Spiralz Rhythmics of Hamilton
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport that appeals to girls aged from 6 years to late teens. The sport is a combination of dance and gymnastics with the use of apparatus such as ribbon, ball, clubs, hoop and rope performed in time to music.
The sport promotes coordination and flexibility as well as developing body strength. It also encourages pride and confidence in the girls as they master their routines and perform individually at competitions from April to October.
We welcome new gymnasts to our club and can take recreational beginners (ie non-competing gymnasts) from 6 years of age at any time throughout the year.
For those gymnasts who are ready to compete, we take new gymnasts in Term 4 and Term 1 of the school year. This is the time when gymnasts move up to a new level and is when new skills and routines are being learnt for the next competition season.
Gymnasts competition routines are perfoemed individually on a floor of 13 metres square to music. Routines are between one minute and two minutes long. A good gymnast has control over her apparatus and her body movements while moving in time to the music.
Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic sport.
If you wish to come along to see what it is like - the first session is free!
